School Update

To the students and families of MRS,

We are so excited to begin another wonderful year together and hope that everyone is doing well. Our staff have been busy preparing for Monday, and we can’t wait to get started.

Tomorrow at 2:00 PM., teachers will be sending a welcome email to their students and families. This email will let your child know who their teacher is and where to meet on the first day of school, Monday, August 31

We also want to remind all families of our School Hours for 2026-2027:

• Kindergarten AM | 9:10am – 12:04pm
• Kindergarten PM | 12:46pm – 3:40pm
• Grade 1-4 | 9:10am – 3:40pm
• Friday (all grades) | 9:10am – 1:00pm

We want to remind families that outdoor supervision begins at 8:55am, with the doors opening at 9:00am for relaxed entry.

Upcoming Important Dates

Our School Calendar has our dates and events.

 First Day Arrival Information | Grade 1-4

• Teachers will be outside starting at 8:55 a.m.
• Students will be brought inside by 9:15 a.m.
• Parents are asked to say goodbye outside, as families will not be permitted to accompany children into the school.

Kindergarten | Staggered Entry & Information

Please note, Kindergarten will be operating with staggered entry for the first 2 days of school.

AM Kindergarten

• Last name beginning A – L Aug 31 & Sept 1 from 9:15 – 10:15am
• Last name beginning M – Z Aug 31 & Sept 1 from 10:45 – 11:45am

PM Kindergarten 

• Last name beginning A – L Aug 31 & Sept 1 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm
• Last name beginning M – Z Aug 31 & Sept 1 from 2:30 – 3:30 pm

There will be NO BUSSING for K students during staggered entry dates:

Aug 31 and Sept 1.

First full day morning or afternoon of kindergarten is Wednesday, September 2, 2026

Student Entry

Students will continue to be assigned the following doors for entry and exit:

• Kindergarten AM/PM: West Doors
• Grade 1 and 2: North Doors (closest to park)
• Grade 3 and 4: South Doors (Main Entrance to office)
• Late students: after 9:10 am use South Doors

Lunch Schedule | Grade 1-4

• Will be staggered into two groups:   
• Grade 3 & 4 (11:45am - 12:25 pm)
• Grade 1 & 2 (12:40pm – 1:20 pm)

School Supplies 

School supplies are provided by the school using parent fees.  Fees will be added to your MyCBE Account before mid-October.   

• Each student will be provided with their own school supplies  
• Each student is responsible for bringing their own water bottle (please label)  
• Each student will need a backpack 
• Students who are staying for lunch will need to bring a bagged lunch daily  
• Students require a pair of indoor shoes for indoor gym activities  
• All students should bring a snack for a daily nutrition break 
• Please label everything you send to school
• First and Last name are important so we can ensure lost items returned to your child

Designate a Meeting Place

It is crucial to establish a designated meeting spot for 3:40 pick-up times. All students in grades 1-4 will be dismissed from their designated exit doors and should go directly to the meeting spots identified with their families. Please ensure that your meeting spot is not in the school parking lot, as this area is off-limits to parents and students. For Kindergarten students, teachers will wait with them until a parent arrives for pick-up. We have instructed all students that if they reach their meeting spot and no one is there to pick them up after five minutes, they should come to the office through the front entrance of the school for assistance.

Communication for Absences  

There are times when changes may occur with a family’s daily schedule, whether it be an absence or a change in the end of day routine; we want to streamline our communication to make it easier for parents and to ensure that valuable information is shared with the right people at the right time.   

There are two options:

• Call Maple Ridge School (403) 777-6280 and press 1 for the absent line to communicate if your child will be absent. 
• E-mail mapleridge@cbe.ab.ca and cc your child’s teacher  

Early/different pick-up:  

The day of

At least a day's notice

Bussing Communication

If your child rides the bus and you decide they are not to take the bus home on a particular day, we ask that you do the following: 

• Same day notice - please call the school for confirmation so that we can update our attendance records 403-777-6280 
• At least one day's notice - please email classroom teacher and mapleridge@cbe.ab.ca
