School Update 

To the students and families of MRS 

We are excited to announce a save the date of December 21st for our second annual Winter Solstice Celebration of Learning. Our school community will be invited to view a performance component in the gym, followed by a celebration of learning in the classroom. Performances will be staggered throughout the day for each grade to accommodate an audience. There will also be an opportunity for adults to socialize in the iLab over hot chocolate.   

We are excited to bring our community together and to share the incredible work students have been engaging in this year. Stay tuned for further information.  

We also want to thank our families that were able to attend either in-person or virtually during conferences this week. This is an important chance for the school and families to celebrate successes and to set new goals as we move further into the school year. For those that were unable to attend conferences, we encourage you to reach out to the classroom teacher to find a time to connect.

Calgary Flames and Wranglers Support Education Matters 

Students, staff, and their families can enjoy a Flames or Wranglers game and help raise funds that support CBE students and schools. EducationMatters provides financial grants, scholarships and awards to improve access to learning opportunities, advance equity and remove barriers to learning for students.  

Flames and Wranglers NextGen Series games will be kid-centric, with special pre-game ceremonies and in-game festivities.

Lockdown Practice – Dec 7 

On December 7>span class="TextRun SCXW171036187 BCX0">, we will have our first of two annual internal lockdown practices with our School Resource Officer. These practices ensure that all staff and students are familiar with the safety measures outlined in our Emergency Response Plan and know what to do in the case of a real emergency. 

Book Fair 

A big thank you to our families for your support with our School Book Fair. While we don’t have any totals yet, we know it was a well-attended event and that this support positively impacts our ability to purchase new resources for our library. 

Digital Citizenship 

Please take some time to review our Digital Citizenship page on our website with information on personal devices. Classroom use of personal electronic devices is at the discretion of the classroom teacher to enhance learning. Students should not be using smartwatches during the school hours to text or take/receive phone calls.
