Maple Ridge Weekly Update | Feb 9
School Update
To the students and families of MRS,
Our lottery for new students will be held on February 14th.
To inform us of our next steps for accepting new students, we are asking that each family complete this survey to indicate any anticipated changes for the next school year.
We understand that the information you share may change and therefore what you indicate is not a commitment. Any anticipated changes offer us some insight as we plan for next year and strive to determine the number of registrations we may offer new students. The deadline to complete this survey is Friday, February 16, 2024.
We thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.
With appreciation,
MRS Staff

Help Needed for iLab Cart Assembly Thanks to the support of our School Council, our school recently purchased a technology cart for our iLab to help store Spehros and Ozobots. If anyone is interested in helping us out by putting this cart together, please email us at mapleridge@cbe.ab.ca.
Kindness Week (Feb 26 – Mar 1)
With Valentine’s Day approaching, MRS will continue to focus on Acts of Kindness that are related to the Pillars of Care:
- Care for Self
- Care for Others
- Care for the Environment
Kindness Week will be during the week of Feb 26 – Mar 1, and we will share more information with our families when it becomes available.
For Valentines Day, we ask our families to refrain from sending any edible items to school due to student allergies. We also want to remind you that if your child is bringing in Valentine's cards, please ensure you have enough for each student in your child's class. Black History Month
During the month of February, Calgary Board of Education students and staff will celebrate and explore the many contributions of Black Canadians, peoples, and communities worldwide. Black History Month is an opportunity for schools to amplify and spotlight the innovative, courageous, and inspiring voices, stories, and contributions of Black Canadians and communities. Throughout the month of February, the Calgary Public Library is hosting events dedicated to celebrating the lives, legacies, and voices of Black peoples and communities.
Assurance Survey – Grade 4 Parents
As a parent of a child in grade 4, you will receive a survey package in the mail from Alberta Education. It will include the survey link and random-access code for you to complete the survey online. Both student and parent surveys are anonymous. The survey results are used at the system and school level to make evidence-informed decisions for school improvement. The parent/guardian survey is now open and will close March 1, 2024. We thank you for taking the time to include your voice in this survey.
Healthy Hunger At times, students are away on days when they have ordered Healthy Hunger. Due to limited storage capacity, and with AHS Food Safety Standards, we are unable to keep these meals beyond 2 pm. If you would like to arrange for picking up an order, we ask that you either call the school (403-777-6280) or send us an email at mapleridge@cbe.ab.ca. Alternatively, you can let us know if you would like us to share this meal with another student who did not order one.
