School Update 

To the students and families of MRS 

This past week has been filled with memorable events that have ended 2023 on a high note.

For the second year in a row, Maple Ridge School hosted a Winter Solstice Celebration. Students used this opportunity to reflect on classroom learning, with a specific focus on the land. Thank you to Elder Harley for joining us during this celebration, and to our parents and families for sharing this experience with us. We also want to thank our staff and students for bringing this event to life, and to the members of School Council who hosted a social gathering in our iLab throughout the day! 

We wish you all a wonderful holiday and we will see you back on January 8th, 2024.

Virtual Open House – January 18 

Maple Ridge School will host a Virtual Open House on Wednesday, January 10th. The Open House will provide an overview of the Science Alternative Program and the registration/application process. 

Kindergarten (6:00-7:00pm)  Grade 1-4 (7:00-8:00pm) 

The PowerPoint presentation will be posted to the school website after January 10. Registration packages will be accepted beginning on Monday, January 15.

RT Alderman School Open House – Jan 25 

Grade 4 families, please note that on Thursday, January 25th from 6:00-7:45pm, RT Alderman will be having an open house. From 6:00-6:45pm, a presentation will be shared that helps families understand what makes a science program. This will be information that many of our families are already familiar with. During the second half of the evening from 6:45-7:45pm, families can take a self-directed tour throughout the building. Click here for more information.  

School Council and Parent Association Update 

Yesterday's Winter Solstice Celebration was a wonderful experience. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated and caring teachers and staff at our school to put on such a special performance and invite us to spend time in the classrooms.  

School Council and the Parent Association were thrilled to be included in helping to spread the holiday cheer. We are so grateful to our parent volunteers who helped setup, takedown and serve the food and drinks in the i-lab through out the day. You poured nearly 500 hot chocolates to our guests and we could not have pulled it off without you! Thank you for giving your time to help build school community. Without your support these event would not be possible. We also want to thank our talented student pianists and violinist for filling our halls with music.
