School Update

To the students and families of MRS,

It was another busy and exciting week at Maple Ridge! Picture Day brought lots of smiles, and our Terry Fox Run brought even more, along with plenty of red faces as students ran, walked and cheered one another on. We were also pleased to welcome a STEM school from Medicine Hat to learn more about our school and Science Alternative programming within CBE. As they toured classrooms, they had the opportunity to see our young scientists in action! 

We also held our first School Council and Parent Association meetings of the year, with a great turnout from our community. Thank you to our Grade 1 team for sharing a window into the many rich learning experiences planned for Grade 1 students this year. Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome families for our Grade 1–4 Meet the Teacher and Kindergarten Parent/Teacher Conferences, along with a Food Truck Social. Please see below for specific details.

Kindergarten Parent Teacher Conferences 

A message will be sent directly to Kindergarten Families, when the booking system opens for parents and guardians to book an appointment for our upcoming Kindergarten School Conferences on Sept 24/25.  

We have both virtual and in-person appointments as both formats continue to be requested by our families.  

Please see the schedule below:  

Kindergarten In-Person  

• Sept 24 (9:00am-12:00pm) & (4:00pm-6:00pm)  
• Sept 25 (8:30am-11:00am)  

Kindergarten Virtual  

• Sept 24 (1:00pm-3:30pm)  
• Sept 25 (11:30am-1:00pm)  

Conferences can be booked using your MyCBE account.

Grade 1-4 Meet the Teacher 

Maple Ridge School, in partnership with the Maple Ridge Parent Association, invites all families to join us on Thursday, September 25th for our Meet the Teacher Evening. There will be Food Trucks on site from 4:00pm-7:00pm on our North compound as part of an opportunity to connect with other families in our community.  

During this event, students and families are invited to head indoors to see the classroom. Each grade has two separate opportunities for a 15-minute Meet ‘n Greet presentation with the classroom teacher in the classroom.

🎵 Notes from the Music Room🎵 

Dear Maple Ridge School Families,    

I am so excited to be a part of your child’s learning this year in Music class.      

We will learn about music from around the world through singing, listening, moving, playing, and creating.  We will also explore how music connects to science and nature!  

Music class is active in participation and collaboration, where we take creative risks, build confidence, and learn about ourselves and each other in a safe and supportive environment.   

It has been a fantastic start to the school year.  All classes are exploring moving safely through the music space, being in control of our bodies and responding to a steady beat through singing games.

Healthy Hunger - Subway next week 

We're partnering with Healthy Hunger again this year to bring the fun lunch fundraiser to Maple Ridge. Thank you for your patience while we're getting things all set up. Subway lunch has just been added to the Healthy Hunger portal for next Wednesday.  

Place your order before the Monday cutoff, and watch for more lunch dates to be added soon.
