School Update

To the students and families of MRS,

This week brought some rainy weather, and our students embraced it! Recess and lunch provided plenty of opportunities for fun in the rain, while also offering a great lesson in being prepared for changing conditions. As we head into fall, please help your child dress for the weather and come prepared with layers, raincoats, and appropriate footwear. At Maple Ridge, learning often takes us outdoors, rain or shine!

Walking into classrooms this week, we saw little scientists everywhere! Students were keen observers, asking questions, and investigating the world around them. We saw students coding with Ozobots, testing and comparing properties of materials such as malleability and transparency and using their observation skills to create detailed scientific sketches of natural objects. It is exciting to see curiosity and scientific thinking alive throughout our school!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Student Drop Off

Maintaining the safety of our students is of the utmost importance, and this includes ensuring the security of our school building. We ask parents and guardians to say goodbye to students at the school entrances and allow them to make their way to their classrooms independently or with the support of school staff. If you need to speak with your child’s teacher, please email them to arrange a convenient time to connect rather than entering the school at drop-off. If your matter is more urgent, please call the school office or enter through the main doors and check in at the office. Thank you for helping us keep our school safe and secure while supporting our students in building confidence and independence.

Parking | Dropping off and Picking Up

We ask families to please refrain from parking or dropping students off in the staff parking lot. This area is reserved for staff vehicles and service access and is not designed for student drop-off or pick-up. The increased traffic in this space creates safety concerns, particularly during busy arrival and dismissal times, and limits visibility for both drivers and pedestrians.

We appreciate your cooperation and support in keeping our school community safe.
