School Update
To the students and families of MRS,
In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation next Monday, our school participated in numerous Orange Shirt Day events over the past week. These important events included an opportunity for students to share their reflections and connections to this work in an assembly, engage in a book walk to the story “You Hold Me Up” by Indigenous author Monique Gray Smith, and to create a collective school art piece “Feather for “Wings”. The feathers for this artwork were created by Gitxsan artist Michelle Stoney and have been used to create an art piece near our front entrance. Many families used this display to capture a photo of their child during our Meet the Teacher evening. During our assembly students sang O Siem by Susan Agluklark. Their performance brought tears to the adult eyes in the gymnasium. Simply beautiful singers.
We would like to thank our Parent Association for their collaboration with us on the Meet the Teacher evening. We have heard from many families that they appreciated being able to connect with other families, enjoy the Food Trucks (thank you Avery!) and weather, and meet with the teachers. As the input of our parents is important and helps guide our decision-making process, we ask you to please take a few minutes to answer the following survey:

Traffic Safety Reminders
We want to remind our families of some traffic considerations during pick-up and drop-off times as we have noticed some illegal U-turns, and parking too close to the crosswalk, specifically on Mapleton Drive SE. As the safety of our students is of utmost importance, we remind all families to follow the rules of the road. We greatly appreciate your support with this.
