School Update

To the students and families of MRS,

With our recent parent-teacher conferences transitioning to an online format over the past two days, we want to express our sincere gratitude to the families who were able to attend. Your participation plays a vital role in celebrating the hard work and achievements of our students at Maple Ridge. By engaging as an audience for their learning, you help reinforce their sense of pride and accomplishment.

If you were unable to attend, we encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher to arrange a time to connect.

As we head into the break, with classes resuming on Monday, March 31st, we hope all our families take time to rest, recharge, and engage in activities that bring joy and fulfillment.

Artist Residency – Janel Nail

Over the past two months, our students have had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Janel Nail during her artist residency. We are deeply grateful for the inspiring and engaging projects our students created under her guidance. A heartfelt thank you to our Parent Association for making this experience possible! As a school, we are now working with Janel to explore ways to permanently display some of these artworks and to create a digital showcase celebrating our students' creativity. On behalf of Maple Ridge School, thank you, Janel!

iLab Donations – Pause for now

Thank you to our families for the generous amounts of iLab consumable donations that we have been recently receiving. We are going to ask families to temporarily pause with bringing any further items and will provide further updates when more materials are needed again.

Spring Equinox

Spring officially arrived on Thursday, March 20th at 3:01am.  Spring equinox is the event when the tilt in the earth makes it so that the sun is now crossing into the Northern Hemisphere. For us, this will lead to longer periods of daylight and warming temperatures.

CUPE (Local 40) Collective Agreement Ratified

Yesterday, the Calgary Board of Education Board of Trustees approved the collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 40, following its ratification by CUPE members on March 19.

This four-year agreement will remain in effect until August 31, 2028.

CUPE Local 40 members are valued members of our school community, and we were pleased to welcome them back to work today.
