School Update

Dear MRS Students and Families,

This past week has been full of meaningful events, and we are incredibly proud of all that our students have accomplished.

On Wednesday, our Photography Gala gave students a chance to showcase the skills they have developed through our artist residency with Janet. Thank you to all the families who joined us for this special event, and a big thank you to our Parent Association for funding this amazing opportunity. Each student will receive a 5x7 print and a matted 8x10 print of their work. We are hoping to send this home next week.

Today, we celebrated our wonderful volunteers. We are so grateful for your time, care, and dedication. Many of the rich learning experiences at Maple Ridge would not be possible without your support. A special moment from the day was the heartfelt Grade Three drama performance of Love You Forever, which clearly resonated with many of our families.

Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome Elder Harley back to our school next Monday. We look forward to continuing our learning around Indigenous ways of knowing and being.

Wishing everyone a restful and joyful weekend,

Maple Ridge Staff

2025-26 Yellow School Bus Registration

Families must register for transportation by Sunday, June 22, 2025, for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.

CBE Transportation will continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes are posted in late August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before those students are able to ride the bus. Transportation can be canceled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.

The proposed fees for transportation service for the 2025-26 school year are as follows:

  • $360/year for those students designated to yellow school bus transportation
  • $180/year for one-way kindergarten transportation

Next Year Planning – 2025-2026

As we look ahead to the 2025–2026 school year, we kindly ask families of students currently in Kindergarten to Grade 3 who do not plan to return to Maple Ridge School next year to notify us as soon as possible. You can do so by emailing us at mapleridge@cbe.ab.ca. Early notice helps us support a smooth and seamless transition for your child.

Celebrating Acceptance & Diversity this Pride Month

The Calgary Board of Education strives to create an inclusive, safe, and respectful environment every day for our students, families, and staff.

June marks the beginning of Pride Month, a time to recognize the pursuit of equality and rights for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. During Pride Month, we can recognize the valuable contributions individuals of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities have made to history and society. This year, we reaffirm our commitment to creating safe and caring learning and work environments for 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff.

With students, families, employees, and our communities, we are working together to build positive learning environments for student success. Every student should have the opportunity to succeed personally and academically regardless of background, identity or personal circumstances.

Reminder to Pay Your Fees

If you have not checked your myCBE account recently, please take a moment to log in and review any outstanding fees. This platform is where families manage payments for school field trips and activities.

Please remember that field trips and activities are cost neutral, meaning the school does not make a profit from them. If unpaid fees continue to accumulate, we may need to reduce the number of trips and activities offered throughout the year.  Thank you for your understanding and support!
