School Update

To the students and families of MRS,

This week had our Grade 1 and 2 classes heading offsite for field studies:

  • Grade 1 students had an exciting day of hands-on learning at Granary Road! During a pond dip investigation, students used nets to collect and observe a variety of living organisms while learning about pond ecosystems. We also had the special opportunity to see a baby goat that had been born earlier that morning. Throughout the day, students explored a variety of interactive and educational exhibits that encouraged curiosity, problem-solving, and exploration through play. It was a wonderful (and chilly) day of outdoor learning and discovery!
  • Grade 2 students got to learn about aquatic invertebrates at their latest field study to the Ralph Klein Park wetlands. Highlights of the trip included pelican and muskrat sightings as well as pond dipping!

As a friendly reminder, our bussing families have until June 14th to be added to bus routes for the 2026-27 school year. More information is included below and can be found here: Bussing and Transportation

Have a wonderful weekend.

Our Indigenous | STEAM | Sports Day is scheduled for Friday, June 19, and we are looking forward to a day of engaging learning, teamwork, and celebration. Volunteers are needed to help make this special day a success and classroom teachers are the key contact for families interested in getting involved. At this time, we intend to move forward with activities as planned and encourage students to come prepared for the variety of weather conditions we have been experiencing lately by dressing appropriately and bringing any necessary outdoor gear.

iLab Donations – Fully Stocked

Thank you so much for the generous donations to our iLab this week.  We are now fully stocked with cardboard and various boxes, plastics, and containers for the next while!

Apply Now | Yellow School Bus Service | 2026-2027

Families are now able to apply for yellow school bus service for the 2026-27 school year. Service levels and fees are outlined below. Registration is available through MyCBE. (If you do not already have an account, learn how.)

Families must apply by Sunday, June 14, 2026, for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year. We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 14 deadline will be delayed. It may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus.

Confirmed routes will be posted in MyCBE in August.

Next Year Planning

As we are engaged in our planning for next year, we ask all parents of students who would be attending our school next year that are not planning to attend, to please email David directly at drlidlaw@cbe.ab.ca

Police Clearance for Volunteers

We are pleased to share that the EPIC system used for Police Clearances is now working again. If you require assistance or are still experiencing challenges obtaining a valid clearance, please do not hesitate to reach out to Kelly at kebryceburns@cbe.ab.ca or contact the school at mapleridge@cbe.ab.ca. We are happy to support you through the process.
