Maple Ridge Weekly Update | January 17th, 2025

School Update

To the students and families of MRS,

Registering your child for school is an exciting milestone for families! Starting this past week, Kindergarten registration for the 2025-26 school year officially opened.

To be eligible for Kindergarten next school year, children must turn five years old on or before December 31, 2025. Registration for new Grade 1-4 students has also begun. For more information, visit the CBE Registration Page and our school website.

We also want to share that families will be able to view online student report cards for Kindergarten to Grade 4 beginning Monday, January 27. Report cards for the 2024-25 school year may be viewed, downloaded and/or printed by signing in to the MyCBE account.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Fish Tank Expert Still Needed

Grade One is looking for a Volunteer who is familiar with large fish tanks. We will be bringing eggs into the school in a few weeks, and we need some advice with tank set up and operation. If you have fishy skills and are available to help, please email dthildebrand@cbe.ab.ca. Thank you in advance!

RTA Alderman – Current Grade 4 Students – Jan 30

The 2024-2025 RTA Open House is scheduled for Thursday, January 30th at 6:00pm. As Maple Ridge's parents are familiar with the Science Program, participation at this Open House is not mandatory. In addition to the presentation, families are welcome to tour the building, speak to teachers and students, and to check out the Science Fair Projects between 6:00pm and 7:45pm. Maple Ridge students are automatically designated to RTA, and we ask that you email us at mapleridge@cbe.ab.ca if you are not attending RTA.

Financial Reports for Aug 1, 2023 - July 31, 2024

School Council annual report of financials has only one line item for the Alberta School Engagement grant of $500. In collaboration with school administration, the funds provided in 2024 were spent on bringing a speaker, Dr. Caroline Buzanko, to virtually present about anxiety in support of school priorities.

Parent Association financial report highlights include:

o   Total Revenue: $106,706 in 2024, up from $27,190 in 2023 (+292%)

o   Total Expenses: $69,733 in 2024, up from $40,885 in 2023 (+70%)

o   Finances are in good health, due to a successful casino fundraiser, fundraising through the school year including Healthy Hunger and School Spirit Wear, and responsible financial stewardship.

If you're interested in more information about the financial reports or anything else discussed at the meeting, please check the school website for the Minutes, which will be posted shortly.
