School Update

To the students and families of MRS,

The first couple of days back for our staff and students were a great success. We were lucky to be met with good weather during these days, and this allowed our teachers to meet students and families outside in the morning to support the transition into our building. Now that our students have met their teacher and practiced a couple of times, we will return to a normal entry where students can enter the building independently with a staggered start time of 8:45am.

  • Kindergarten AM/PM: West Doors
  • Grade 1 and 2: North Doors (closest to park)
  • Grade 3 and 4: South Doors (Main Entrance to office)
  • Late students: after 8:55 am use South Doors and check w/ office

With the start of a new school year, we are asking all families to please take a moment to view their child’s MYCBE account. On this landing page, the “Online Forms and School Registration Tab” will need to be updated/completed, which includes the following:

  • Demographic Verification (includes a Student Health Form Option)
  • Annual Authorizations
  • Volunteer Registrations

Wishing everyone a wonderful and well-deserved long weekend.

Communication for Absences

There are times when changes may occur with a family’s daily schedule, whether it be an absence or a change in the end of day routine; we want to streamline our communication to make it easier for parents and to ensure that valuable information is shared with the right people at the right time.

There are two options:

·       Call Maple Ridge School (403) 777-6280 and press 1 for the absent line to communicate if your child will be absent.

·       E-mail mapleridge@cbe.ab.ca and cc your child’s teacher

Early/different pick-up:

The day of:

·       Call Maple Ridge School (403) 777-6280 and press “0” to speak with someone directly about the change

At least a day's notice:

·       E-mail mapleridge@cbe.ab.ca and cc your child’s teacher

Bussing Communication

If your child rides the bus and you decide they are not to take the bus home on a particular day, we ask that you do the following:

  • Same day notice - please call the school for confirmation so that we can update our attendance records 403-777-6280
  • At least one day's notice - please email classroom teacher and mapleridge@cbe.ab.ca

Southland Transportation has an app called MyBusStop. This app allows families to track where their child’s bus is located. For more information, go to MyBusStop.

In order to register you will need our school bus code and your child’s bus route. The bus code for our school is CBECTA414S

Label Everything

Every year we send significant amounts of clothing and other lost items to charity that go unclaimed in our Lost and Found. Items found with your child(s) name labelled on them will be returned directly to them.

Designate a Meeting Place

It is crucial to establish a designated meeting spot for 3:40 pick-up times. All students in grades 1-4 will be dismissed from their designated exit doors and should go directly to the meeting spots identified with their families. Please ensure that your meeting spot is not in the school parking lot, as this area is off-limits to parents and students. For Kindergarten students, teachers will wait with them until a parent arrives for pick-up. We have instructed all students that if they reach their meeting spot and no one is there to pick them up after five minutes, they should come to the office through the front entrance of the school for assistance.

Healthy Hunger

This is a friendly reminder to sign up for Healthy Hunger so that you don’t miss out.

Lunch Registration

Students in grade 1-4 may stay at school over the lunch break to eat their lunch and to have an active living break. Lunch supervision registration continues throughout the year and payments can only be accepted once students are registered. You can register and pay using your MyCBE parent account.
2024-25 lunch supervision registration and fees will be available after September 2024. You can pay using MyCBE.

Please visit Fees and Waivers for more information.

Transportation

CBE Transportation continues to accept registration through your MyCBE account and students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume. Families are responsible for transportation until their registration is confirmed.
