School Update

To the students and families of MRS,

Our school was toured this week by Diana Batten, MLA for Calgary-Acadia, Kourtney Penner, Ward 11 Councillor, and Nancy Close, CBE Trustee Wards 11 & 13.

This was an excellent opportunity for our school to showcase the Science Alternative Program, and to share some of the learnings that take place in our building.

During this visit, our students made us proud as they highlighted the following:

  • Tinkercad and 3D Printer and its use for student learning
  • Spheros and block coding to support minimizing waste in our world
  • iLab to utilize the Design Thinking Process for the completion of projects
Fish in School Program (raising fish from eggs to their natural release)

This visit reminded us of the great work our staff and students undertake to pursue learning through a scientific approach.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Kind regards,

MRS Staff

Black History Month

During the month of February, Calgary Board of Education students and staff will celebrate and explore the many contributions of Black Canadians, peoples, and communities worldwide. Black History Month is an opportunity for schools to amplify and spotlight the innovative, courageous, and inspiring voices, stories, and contributions of Black Canadians and communities. Throughout the month of February, the Calgary Public Library is hosting events dedicated to celebrating the lives, legacies, and voices of Black peoples and communities.

Severe Allergies Reminder

Our school is a nut aware school. Several students at our school have severe and, in some cases, life-threatening allergies to various nuts and nut products. Out of respect for these students and their families and in the interest of allowing all students to be safe at school we are asking that you do not pack lunches or snacks that contain these products.
